Stopped in today (Sunday) to get some of their delicious cheese. Staff is so nice and checkout is quick and easy! Love this place!
5 stars for the meat. I am not a fan of black pepper and have yet to get anything premade at Dzuik's that wasn't too spicy (jaleneno) hot or too much black pepper. Their meat is awesome.
I have driven by this place so many times and finally made a stop in. Walking in, it was so much larger than I thought. Two large rooms that contained well organized sections of various jerky, deli items, sausages, snacks, special meats, marinated meats, preserves, condiments, seasonings, candles, etc.... They had a large jerky section and I decided to check it out. I inquired to the girl behind the counter which was the most popular and she stated the beef. So, I tried a sample of the beef and the spicy turkey which looked pretty good. I didn't care for the beef , it was really tough, but the spicy turkey was delicious! Slightly tender, with a good amount of spice. Jerky prices were kinda high ranging from $24.99- $35.99/pound. I ordered a half pound to go. I wondered what their salsas were like, but hard to buy without sampling. A suggestion- a sampling station would entice more people to try the items and purchase : )
My wife is a beef jerky expert. No matter how expensive beef jerky is nowadays and BTW what's up with this crispy less than 1mm thin stuff that they sell for gold prices????? I mean, come on, $16 for 1 ounce? What is this? My wife will find the most expensive beef jerky snack that someone thinks up. Anyway I digress.... Please excuse my bad attitude for the snacks that are like "air". Most new stuff weighs like nothing and they charge exorbitant prices! OK, back to Dziuk. She looks it up. The reviews are raving about the real beef jerky not the fake stuff in the markets. We head on over even though it's half hour away driving 70+ one way. We get there and I was blown away. I mean Honolulu in general does not have this type of meat market. It's cool, it's stocked, there are tons of stuff even elixirs for health! There are meats and sausages, and bacon wrapped quail. There are sauces, chilis, honey, I mean this place rules!!!!! And.... There's an entire counter of beautiful, delicious beef jerky. Just looking at it.... This is the real, good stuff!!!!! They will vacuum wrap a huge slab of meat and you get to taste everything before you buy. Is it good? Man it's so good! The spicy is just spicy enough. The teriyaki is good. How good? My wife and I ate through an entire bag and yeah, we went back. 2 hours driving spent on this place and yes, it's that good. 5 stars for an awesome place and very awesome people running it. Service was fantastic!!!!!!!
Dzuik's has been a Castroville staple for as long as I can remember. My go to's are the parisa, snack trays, rib eye's, bacon wrapped filets, bacon wrapped tenderloins, Alsatian sausage, ground beef...the store is neatly arranged and the service has always been top notch. It's truly a hometown gem.
